Countertenor and conductor, Jean-Sébastien Beauvais has more than 25 years of extensive professional experience in international musical field, successfully managing projects and conducting cross-cultural teams in different countries such as U.K, Nederland, France, Finland, Czech Republic. 

 

Artistic director of the cultural company and professional ensemble LA CHAMBRE, Jean-Sébastien is the director of the Festival des BaroQuiales in Sospel (Alpes Maritimes – France) and the musical director of various mixed choirs: Oratorio choir La Brénadienne (Brunoy) and Immensi Ceili (Paris), choir ARSIS (Garches) and female vocal ensemble l’ATELIER (Paris). Since 2024 he works closely with Vincent Dumestre as conductor and coach of the new choir of the Poème Harmonique.

 

Master graduated of major international schools in singing and choir direction (Versailles and Amsterdam), he holds a second Master's degree in Management of Cultural Organizations from the prestigious University of Paris Dauphine PSL. Versatile and curious, he is also a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) coach and practitioner. Enriched by a long experience of life in the Netherlands and his international background, all his actions and projects share the joy of knowledge’s transmission, humanist values and an openness to the spiritual in music and arts. 

 

The very essence of his ensemble LA CHAMBRE leads his choice of repertoire to always touch several aesthetics, nourishing itself mainly on early and even traditional music, as well as modern and contemporary repertoires, creating a link between disciplines, human traditions and the diversity of the traces left by artistic and societal movements.

 

Fruit of his talent and his work, his opera career opened the doors to many European stages and provided him with the chance to work with great conductors such as Leonardo García Alarcon, Peter Philips, Aapo Haikinnen, Jos van Veldhoven, Hervé Niquet, Christophe Rousset. 

As a soloist or in ensemble, Jean-Sébastien Beauvais walks on the greatest musical stages, from the Festival de Beaunes to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, from BOZAR in Brussels to the Théâtre des Champs Élysée in Paris or lately the Kölner Philharmonie with always renowned ensembles.

 

Graduated as a choir conductor, he perfected his skills with Denis Rougier (Stuttgart), Markus Ultz (Hamburg), Mihàly Zeke (Cité de la Voix, Vézelay), and Antoine Bretonnière (Pantin). He was selected to join the Russian International Masterclass in choir conducting led by Boris Abalian (Saint Petersburg).

 

Invested in humanitarian causes and pedagogical actions, he is musically committed to supporting the activities of various associations: the St John Eye Hospital of Jerusalem (London) and the Order of Hospitallers (helping the children of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict), the Order of Malta (Paris), association Pour un Sourire d'Enfant (Paris) alongside the French actress Brigitte Fossey, or at the Monaco Cathedral in homage to the victims of the attacks in Nice, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

 

His ensemble LA CHAMBRE is in residence at the Foundation of Monaco in the Cité International Universitaire de Paris. It benefits from the benevolent support of the Cathedral of Monaco and Monegasque Cultural Affairs Department. 

 

For its action through the Festival Les BaroQuiales, he receives the financial support of Alpes-Maritimes Department, the Region PACA and the city of Sospel.
